트럼프대통령이 기존 이민제한 행정명령을 올 연말까지 연장하고, 추가적으로 취업비자인 H1B, 주재원비자인 L1, 그리고 교환학생 및 인턴 비자인 J비자의 발급을 연말까지 전면 제한 하기로 했습니다. 새롭게 발표된 행정명령에 따르면 최근 코로나 여파로 경제가 악화되어 실업률이 급증해 부득이하게 미국 노동시장을 보호하기 위해 비자 발급을 금지한다고 밝혔는데요, 기존에 비자를 가지고 계신 분이나 영주권자들은 해당되지 않으니 이 점은 유의하시기 바랍니다.  

서명한 행정명령의 제한 범위는 다음과 같습니다. 

Given that 60 days is an insufficient time period for the United States labor market, still stalled with partial social distancing measures, to rebalance, and given the lack of sufficient alternative means to protect unemployed Americans from the threat of competition for scarce jobs from new lawful permanent residents, the considerations present in Proclamation 10014 remain.

In addition, pursuant to Proclamation 10014, the Secretary of Labor and the Secretary of Homeland Security reviewed nonimmigrant programs and found that the present admission of workers within several nonimmigrant visa categories also poses a risk of displacing and disadvantaging United States workers during the current recovery.

The entry of additional workers through the H-1B, H-2B, J, and L nonimmigrant visa programs, therefore, presents a significant threat to employment opportunities for Americans affected by the extraordinary economic disruptions caused by the COVID-19 outbreak.
